Who we are

Ceramics in the form of pottery is fun and very absorbing. It is also annoying and frustrating at times. We never know exactly what our finished craft will be like, given the vagaries of clay types, glazes, and firing processes. The possible combinations are infinite.

My name is Rich Edwards. After retiring from a wildly hectic career as a small business owner in Grand Junction, Colorado, I began to dabble in ceramics around 2007 and took occasional classes at the Western Colorado Center for the Arts, and I still do to this day. My wife Martie took to working in collage, alcohol inks, and acrylics soon after retiring from her career in health care. During the pandemic we began to invest much more time and energy into our hobbies and this was a life-saver for us.

Though I enjoy making pots on a wheel it is not my forte, which is more in the realm of ceramic sculpture, both abstract and whimsical, and hand-built forms that are both decorative and sometimes functional. What I most like about working with clay is the strange combination of science, imagination, art, and crafting skills.
